Polysucrose (renamed from Ficoll™) is a polymer which displays excellent biocompatibility. Polysucrose is more sensitive to acid than dextran so that care must be taken when working at acid pH. All batches are checked for molecular weight, degree of substitution, loss on drying and free TRITC. TdB Labs produce TRITC-polysucrose from 20 kDa to 400 kDa. TRITC-polysucroses are supplied as a pink powder.

Structure
Polysucrose is a polymer synthesised by cross-linking sucrose with epichlorohydrin. TRITC-Polysucrose is prepared by reacting polysucrose with TRITC. Polysucrose has a more spherical structure and is less flexible compared to dextran.
Spectral data
TRITC-polysucrose has an excitation maximum at 522 and an emission maximum at 552 nm at pH 9.
Storage and stability
TRITC-polysucrose is stable for more than 6 years when stored dry in well-sealed containers at ambient temperature.
Solubility
TRITC-polysucrose dissolves readily in water.
Application
TRITC-polysucrose is mainly used for studying permeability and microcirculation. Due to its spherical structure, it is often used for studies of glomerular filtration.
